Armor35, a Russian based online retailer of modelling supplies and manufacturer of fine resin accessories, expands their growing line of cast resin accessories to include a selection of 1/35 scale cast resin replacement heads for figures. At the present, Armor35 has seven individual sets of heads for sale.

List of Replacement Heads

ARM356001 – Bald Heads Set 1
• ARM356002 – Heads (with hair) Set 1
• ARM356003 – Modern Heads in knitted and fleece caps Set 1
• ARM356004 – Modern Heads Private Military Company Set 1
• ARM356005 – Modern Heads Private Military Company Set 2
• ARM356006 – Modern Heads Private Military Company Set 3
• ARM356013 – Soviet Heads In Forage Caps BoB Set 1

For the purpose of this review, I am fortunate enough to be able to get a close look at five of these new sets of replacement heads; ARM356001, 356003, 356004, 356005 and 356006 as listed above. Each of these new sets of replacement heads come supplied in small pegboard packages with the heads sealed in Ziploc-type bags. Each set comes complete with five replacement heads. Each of these heads are cast in grey colored resin and are identified by letters molded into the casting blocks attached at the base of each neck.

With each set, there is an apt description of what is found inside; Bald Heads, Modern Heads in knitted and fleece caps and Modern Heads Private Military Company sets 1, 2 and 3. So, taking a look inside the 356001 set, there is a collection of five bald replacement heads. There is subtle variations in the facial features of each of the heads and the fact that they are bold allows the modeler the option of placing a hat or helmet on top, adding hair or simply leaving them bare. Moving on to the 356003 set, we see a collection of 1/35 scale head all dawning knit/fleece caps. The first thing that is noticed, is that there are some similarities to the bald heads; however, there are again some subtle differences and of course the inclusion of the knit hats. As with the bald heads, there is a certain generic look to the heads which allow the modeler to be able to use these heads in a multitude of applications.

Since there are a tremendous amount of great modern subject to model these days, obviously replacement heads for modern figures only compliments a wide range of figures offered on the market today. As I collectively look over the Modern Heads selections form the 356004, 356005 and 356006 sets, the first thing you notice will be the similarities between some of the faces. Basically some faces were used in following sets to create new faces. Differences were made such as the addition of sunglasses and/or facial hair to get varied looks. While some of these heads are recognizably the same, the subtle differences change the overall look for the most part.

All of the heads in all of the sets I looked at for this review have been cast extremely well. There is no visible flash, no air bubble and no seam lines to remove. Basically, pull the heads out of the package, and after a quick washing, you can begin the painting process.

Conclusion
I summation, seeing another company offering a new line of replacement heads for 1/35 scale figures is something that is always welcomed. Armor35 has made a decent jump into this territory of modelling accessories. The quality of the sculpting is crisp and the features to these faces are pleasing. The overall casting to these heads is excellent in my opinion. There are some similarities to the faces spanning all the sets offered. This is as a result from some heads being altered with new features and then regulated for use on other sets. But in the end, these Heads by Armor35 are a fine addition to an already fantastic line of products. I have to assume that we will be seeing more additions of replacement heads with new sculpts and more options soon. Until then, these replacement heads will make for a quality and cost efficient way to upgrade some of the lackluster figures being sold today.
SUMMARY
Highs: A decent range of replacement heads; quality casting as a valued price.
Lows: Some heads seem to be used in different sets; however features are added to change the overall appearance.
Verdict: A fine collection of replacement heads for anyone looking to spruce up the soft features of some of the mainstream styrene offerings.

I am building what I like, when I like and how I like it; having fun doing it. I have been building and finishing models on and off my whole life but the past ten years things really exploded. Just about anything goes when it comes to hitting the bench, but wrecked armor, rusted hulks, ships or ...

I prefer eyes with no markings for the pupil so I can have them looking wherever I want. I also personally prefer Hornet heads since I find them more detailed and with more character. Best regards, Angel

While these are well sculpted and cast, and well priced, they could use some individual expressions.

Where can I order them from?

As the famed Hornet heads are like hen's teeth and pricey if you find 'em, these look pretty nice. I hope they come out with the assorted WWII noggins. Ironmike
