introduction

Theme of the latest products of Evolution Miniatures is World War II Soviet Soldiers at rest on 1943-45. Company released four kits depicting soldiers playing music, dancing, applausing and watching like celebrating a victory or end of war.

Third kit of the series EM-35135 includes two Soviet soldiers, one posed to watch and cheer dancing soldiers and other kneeling to dance Russian folk dance Kalinka/Prisyadka. The kit will make a very good scene when used together with, formerly reviewed EM-35132 and EM-35133.

Figure comes in the new neat and small box of the company labeled with a photo of the figure painted by sculptor and painter Sergey Traviansky - Menelay. Sides and flaps of the box show general info, warnings about the kit and piracy by illegally recasting.

Sculpted in 1/35 scale with clean and crisp details and flawless cast in grey resin, they show the admirable quality of all Evolution figures. No mistakes and no serious cleanwork, just slightly visible seamlines on the stock of machine guns need to clean.

Posed standing and clapping his hands, he comes in 6 parts as full body, seperate arms and weapons.

With well defined facial details, he has a sheep skin fur hat on his head used by Soviet Army officers. It is a shorter and no ear flaps version of Papakha and named Kubanka. He wears standard army winter uniform consisting of traditional shirt-tunic Gymnastiorka M43, khaki cotton half-breeches/trousers - Sharovari M35 and Telogreika, Russian Army quilted winter jacket. Cloth folds and wrinkles, open collar, buttons and holes, quilted texture, pocket and shoulder straps of jacket, medal on the left breast, skirt of tunic under the jacket, reinforcement pads on knees, leather belt on waist are all well represented. As for the footgear, he has knee length leather boots.
He carries a Canteen on the right back and a MP40 pouch with 3 magazine and a speed loader pockets on the front left. Gunsling of the machine gun carried on right shoulder is cast on the figure.

Arms are posed to clap his hands, make a very good fit to shoulders and show nice quilted texture and buttoned cuffs.

He carries a MP-40 submachine gun on his right shoulder.

Stock of MP40 will be added to the submachine gun in open position.

F1 hand grenade is given as a seperate part and will be added to the right side of belt buckle.

Posed kneel to dance, he comes in 7 parts.

Facial details, moustache, smiling expression on the face and details like fur texture, ear flaps and red star badge on Ushanka fur cap are well defined. He wears the same uniform as the first figure - shirt, trousers and quilted jacket. He has two medals on left breast and Badge of the Order red star sculpted on the uniform. A Drum magazine pouch for PPSh-41 is added to his belt on the left side. Left hand is also cast on the waist of figure.

Right arm is posed to be on the back of his head and left arm on his waist. Both shows nice texture on the quilted cloth.

He carries a PPSh-41 - Papasha, magazine fed submachine gun. 71 round drum magazine is given as a seperate part.

Canteen to be added to the hole on the right back is given as a seperate.

A captured German K98 Bayonet will be attached to the front right side of belt.

conclusion

Ease on assembly with less parts, nice sculpt and cast. Dancing figure is sculpted in a proper posture for the Kalinka. They can be displayed with other figures of the series or can be a part of a bigger Stalingrad or Berlin invasion diorama.
