History

The United States Navy's Sea, Air and Land Teams, commonly known as the Navy SEALs, are the U.S. Navy's primary special operations force and a component of the Naval Special Warfare Command.

The modern day U.S. Navy SEALs can trace their roots back to World War II. The United States Navy recognized the need for the covert reconnaissance of landing beaches and coastal defences. As a result, the Amphibious Scout and Raider School was established in 1942 at Fort Pierce, Florida. The Scouts and Raiders were formed in September of that year, just nine months after the attack on Pearl Harbour, from the Observer Group, a joint U.S. Army-Marine-Navy unit.

Contents

The Legends Productions box is its usual type with thin card board with two openings one at either end the box art work which is a picture of the figure.

The instruction sheet is well done and reversible the first picture is a photo of all the parts and numbers them from 1 to 37. The other five pictures on the front side is part of the build in detail showing where each part of the equipment goes. It continues on the reverse side again giving clear and precise locations to place the various equipment.

1. Thirty seven light grey resin parts.
2. One instruction sheet reversible.

Review

First thing you notice as you causally tip out the contents on to your modelling bench is the amount of parts the visual detail and just how good it all looks. All of the parts are visually easy to identify and there for sort out into its building process. The Moulds are all clean and without any defects apart from one little air bubble in the toe of one of the boots but I only noticed it via a close up photo shot.

Moving onto the head it has great facial details making it easy to see clearly his expression and concentration. This plays into a story of how you can see the figure acting in a diorama. The main torso is mainly body armour although that said it is extremely well done every line of the body armour is in line and where you would expect it to be. The lower portion of the body being the mid rift and legs now these really are pleasing to the eye with your creases looking superb and in all the right places.

The pockets on the uniform are very well sculpted along with the knee pads, however there is some seam lines both on the inside and outside of the legs which will require some very careful work if you are not to lose the detail. The arms and hands look very realistic and the creases again conform to how it would look if you were wearing a jacket, the gloves are really well sculpted and look how I would expect them to look. The Helmet is more like a cap but is very neatly done with head cam and lights. Boots I could not believe that they had gone to the trouble of cutting the tread on the bottom of the boots "who does that" ! Their is one blemish on the toe of the left boot possibly an air bubble.

The equipment is next and the radio is good but does carry a mould seam across the front of it. The gun magazines are a tiny but excellent detail and will fit on the body armour making it look like the real thing. A side holster and pistol are moulded in one and again it is hard to fault the look. Some light bags and various other equipment bags go to make up some of the stowage around his midriff.

The last parts of the equipment include the sights to the assault rifle although tiny it is very detailed and looks like how the real sight should look. The Assault rifle itself is just amazing it was one of the first bits I noticed when I took the parts out of the bag and I was totally amazed by it. The butt the handle and trigger which is replicated is simply sublime coupled with the grenade launcher it is top notch and a credit to Legend Productions.

Conclusion

One of the best figures I have seen in a long time everything is in sculpted so well yes it has some flaws, the mould seam lines that run down the trousers inside and out also so many of the parts are fine and will require some patience to be able to remove. Overall I think it is a great figure that will bring to life any modern day scene where the Navy Seals are involved.

SUMMARY
Highs: The detail is very well done and it will fit into any modern diorama or will make a great vignette.
Lows: The minor mould seam lines on the trousers are going to be tricky to successfully remove without removing the detail.
Verdict: It has to be a must, it is well done, well thought out and has incredible detail. The pendulum will definitely fall on the positives such is the scale of highs to lows.

Nice review Adieu, thanks. My figure arrived this morning and I have to agree with everything in the review. One clarification though: there are 37 unique parts but with multiples of some of the pouches it makes a total of 51 parts. For a single 1/35 figures. Can't wait to start

I examined this figure up close a couple of months ago and I was equally impressed with the details. Of note...this is Legend Productions first 3D designed/sculpted 1/35 figure. I expect many more great figures from Legend with them using the 3D process.

Thank you guys, I have to say that this is one of the best figures I have seen for a very long time. I cannot wait to see what else they produce and hoping for more special forces for a diorama I have in mind.
