Stridsvagn 103
Introduction

It hardly seems possible to me that Tankograd publishing is already releasing the 20th title in their Fast Track series of books. On this occasion Tankograd share with us the delights of the Stridsvagn 103. The turretless STRV 103 is now out of service, but remains a very interesting design that served for many years.

Contents

This book from Tankograd Publishing offers 40 pages of a good quality glossy paper. The text in this title is completely in English and well presented. The images inside are supplied in the form of 7 black and white and 73 colour photographs.

Review

This offering from Tankograd Publishing looking at the Stridsvagn 103, follows the typical presentation of the in detail series. It begins with a short history of the vehicles rise from the drawing boards, through frontline service and on into retirement. Text is not what these titles are about in my opinion, but with that said the text included does provide a good insight into the vehicle and its history.

The photographs are of the usual very high standard regardless of if talking about the black & white or colour photographs. The captions that accompany every photograph are very descriptive and so clearly describe what you are looking at. The pictorial section of the book breaks down as follows:
A general walk around
Suspension
Hull
Ammunition loading
Autoloader system
Secondary armament
Engine
Interior
Dozer blade
Mine roller
Swim screen
This break down does provide the modeller with a good look at all of the various areas of the vehicle to a good degree. The book provides great reference for the Trumpeter 1/35th scale offerings dating back to 2002/3, I find myself wondering if Tankograd Publishing knows of something new coming from someone.

Conclusion

The photographic section of the book is excellent, and as photographs cover most of the books contents I consider it an excellent offering. The captions provide the information I need in regards to what I am looking at and specific details to note. The written portion of the book proper is long enough to cover the essentials while not losing or deterring those interested in the ppictorial reference.

One of the most innovative AFV ever conceived, and what has got to be one of the most difficult to hit from head-on! Talk about small target! Makes me want to get hold of a kit and build one of these!

The is a typo on page 12 in paragraph 3 where it mentions hydrogen gas in the suspension system that uses nitrogen gas.

Hi! Yes, you are right. However, it is explained correctly on the rest of this page and just changed accidently to hydrogene gas in this sentence. Thank you for your correction! Andreas Kirchhoff
