NAHM-MODELLBAU is a company that produces resin conversions for Revell of Germany armour models in 1/35th scale. The offering I am looking at here is for the Revell of Germany GTK Boxer in 1/35th scale (ref 03093) and converts it via the addition of the Lance turret version.
Product
The kit is supplied in a sturdy cardboard box with lots of protection included to prevent damage; this is a very good thing as it allowed the model travel safely from Germany to France without issue. Before getting into the review of the product I need to make everyone aware that this is a short run kit. The casting is rough in places and I would not recommend this conversion to a beginner. The preparation work will be important there.
Review
The dimensions of this model are good and the turret shapes are in my opinion ok. A look at the model reveals that an antiskid coating is present and nicely represented. Some of the resin parts will need heavy sanding; areas such as the turret itself due to a large pad of resin from the casting process. As you can see in one of the pictures, the turret base shows this pad of excess resin at an angle that will need heavy and precision sanding to be removed accurately. The gun muzzle will be very difficult to use as the resin casting is thick and approximate there. The cooling holes in the gun casing will require special attention when cleaning up. There are a number of air bubbles present in the mouldings that will need to be rectified, I would recommend the use of putty to fill these.
SUMMARY
Highs: Overall the shapes are ok and the Antiskid texture looks cool.Lows: Some parts have an apprioximate moulding (gun muzzle), others will need heavy sanding (turret base).Verdict: Okay, this is a kit for the experienced modellers. I think it can turn into a quite decent model but it will need a lot of patient care. This is a nice and demanding little resin conversion kit.
