Introduction:
Live Resin recently offered Polaris MV850 ATV in 1/35 scale. The company also released a bunch of accessories, upgrades and figures for the vehicle, many of which have been reviewed on Armorama (
link). This review covers:
US Military ATV quadrobike upgrade set - Front and rear stowage 1 - ammo boxes, canister, backpack and heavy weapon base mount (LRE-35322).
Review:
The set comes in a hard cardboard box featuring CAD box art images which show the contents of the set as well as the set used on Polaris MV850 ATV. The latter could prove useful for optimal orientation of the stowage on the vehicle.
The set includes three resin pieces safely secured in a zip lock bag. The pieces look really good and the cast is great. There is some thin resin film to remove between the ratchet straps and the stowage items which could prove a bit difficult without damaging the detail. A lot of patience is needed in the process as these delicate bits of resin would not stand manhandling. I suggest cleaning the film before removing the pieces from their carrier blocks.
The stowage in this set is designed to depict heavy support weapon vehicle loadout. Both front and rear deck stowage feature several 40mm ammo boxes, as well as the heavy weapon base mount on the rear deck. There are some in-theater photos of MV850 ATV equipped with Mk47 Stryker and I’m pretty sure Live Resin was going for that particular setup with this set. Additional small arms ammo box, water canister, backpack with helmet and two canvas rolls are depicted among the stowage items as well. Ratcheting tie-down straps with carabiner clips serve to secure the stowage to the vehicle… inclusion of these straps to the resin pieces simplifies the installation of stowage on the model. The clips do need some dry fitting to find their optimal anchoring points on the ATV cargo decks though.
Conclusion:
US Military ATV quadrobike upgrade set - Front and rear stowage 1 (LRE-35322) offers resin stowage pieces to upgrade Polaris MV850 ATV from Live Resin in 1/35 scale. The pieces are nicely cast but need careful cleaning before installing them to the vehicle. The stowage setup is designed to accommodate Mk47 Stryker, available separately from Live Resin, turning the ATV into a heavy weapon platform.
EDIT: I have Live Resin ATV kit in the works. Once the build is complete I plan to include photos of the stowage installed on the vehicle to this review. Until then, please check the images from Live Resin website.
