Introduction:
Macone Models offers a very interesting resin scenery line for dioramas in 1/35 scale, some of which have been reviewed on Armorama (
link). The company’s latest release in the series is
Bus Stop, Eastern Countries (MAC35166)
Review:
The kit is packed in a hard cardboard box which features an image of assembled bus stop. Opening the box reveals large resin pieces, additionally secured in bubble wrap, with smaller pieces stored in zip lock bag. The kit includes:
- 7 resin pieces,
- 0.5 mm plasticard,
- L-profile plasticard,
- decal sheet.
The resin pieces are cast really well. I noticed seam lines on the edges of some of the larger pieces, but these are not difficult to clean. Casting blocks are minimal and easily removed. However, I would suggest being careful as the cleanup process could result in flattening the concrete texture on the pieces. There are several on-line tutorials on making a concrete surface which would be well worth checking if the texture needs to be recreated.
Assembly:
The assembly is very easy. After cleaning, the large sidewall pieces are fixed to designated positions on the resin base. Some putty work might be needed to fill the gaps. The roof is installed next, followed by the roof sign… the modeler can chose to use the decal supplied in the kit or make a custom sign using paint masks or custom printed decals. Last but not least is the small wooden bench, made from three thin resin pieces. I added two photos of the bus stop painted by Javier Redondo to this review, just to display one of the possibilities of finishing the kit, along with the real bus stop which was used as inspiration for the model. Impressive, right?
The assembled bus stop depicts one of the many bus stop iterations present in eastern countries… Russia, Ukraine or some of the East European countries. It can be used in various modern day dioramas, as well as different post-apocalyptic scenarios.
Conclusion:
Bus Stop (MAC35166) from Macone Models is a multimedia kit delivering a 1/35 scale miniature of concrete bus stop found in eastern countries. The resin pieces are nicely cast with only minor touch-ups needed. Plasticard/decal sign is a nice addition to the kit. Assembly is easy and the finished model can be used in different scenarios, from modern day conflicts to post-apocalyptic settings.
