Introduction

Paracel Miniatures keeps releasing sophisticated Modern Wars Mideast tanker figures that can be used for tanks and armored vehicles of Iraqi, Syrian and other Mideast armies or rebel tankers. Series started with a two-figure kit Selfie , continued in Cat lover and now MW 3539 Book reader depicting a combat vehicle crewman on the hatch holding a book on his left hand.
Review

Figure comes in company’s standard cardboard box labeled with a photo of the figure painted by Giang Xuan Le aka Janleo, also the sculptor. Sculpted in 1/35 scale as a one-piece figure with a seperate left hand, casting is clean and details are crisp. Not much need for a detailed cleanwork other than removing casting blocks and sanding seamlines inside legs.

  • Facial features of a middle-aged Middle Eastern guy, heavy beard and moustache are well defined. His headgear is a Russian Style Tanker Helmet - Shlemofon with a large horizontal pad to the forehead , with padded ridges to the crown running front to back, pocket pouches to the ears for fitting the integral earphones, rear neck flap, long ear flaps with open chin strap and buckle.

  • He wears tanker coveralls with reinforced knees, military parka or tanker jacket with hood and military boots. Besides cloth folds, jacket details like elastic waist band, slit pockets and hood strings are well sculpted. Inside his coat, a scarf is wrapped around his neck and two magazine and a smaller horizontal pouch of a AK-74 chest rig is visible on the figure’s chest. He has half finger tactical gloves.

  • Left hand holding a book is given as a seperate part.
    conclusion

Once again, I appreciated Giang Xuan Le for his creativity on sculpting interesting figures. This is another nice at-rest tanker figure with a nice sculpt and cast. Pose looks realistic, his clothing fits to Mideast tankers in real-time photos and not much effort needed for assembly.

  • SUMMARY
Highs: Nice posed figure to display on a Mideast tank. Well sculpted and cast, less parts for easy assembly.
Lows: No lows on this one.
Verdict: Nice figure for Mideast tankers at rest scenes.
