Amateur figure sculptors as well as modelers converting and upgrading plastic figures love to use replacement resin heads and hands. Resin heads offers superior detail to plastic, enhancing facial features of the figure and providing character with various expressions. Likewise, resin hands are superior to plastic in terms of anatomy and detail, but they are also formed to hold a weapon or a tool, flash hand signal and, of course… point. 😊

This review covers three sets of replacement hands in 1/35 scale released under Royal Model label: Assorted Hand Set No1 (839), Assorted Hand Set No2 (840) and Assorted Hand Set No3 (841).

The sets come in plastic bags secured to hard cardboard backings. The hands are cast in grey resin and closer inspection reveals no casting imperfections whatsoever, with all the details impressively delivered in resin. Some of the fingers feature resin projections which were added to facilitate casting process and these protrusions need to be cleaned before use.

Each set consists of 7 pairs of hands, quite a variety suitable for many different scenarios. Fitting the hands to figure’s arms is done by drilling out the sleeves, removing the hand from its carrier block and fixing the hand to the arm. The process is facilitated by long wrists which allow easy modification for achieving perfect fit. As with the replacement heads, it takes a couple of minutes of precise work to take a simple plastic figure to the next level of realism.

Check the photos and observe the quality of the assorted hands from Royal Model. The sculpting is great and the cast very impressive. With 7 pairs of hands, there is a nice variety in each set.

Altogether, these sets provide a very useful addition for all those converting and detailing plastic figures, as well as for sculptors creating their own miniature masterpieces.

A big thanks to Roberto from Royal Model for these review samples.

About Mario Matijasic (Maki)

You wonder how did this addiction start? I was a kid when my dad broght home a 1/72 Concord airplane; we built it together as well as couple of other airplanes after that. This phase was just pure fun: glue, paint, decals in no particular order... everything was finished in a day or two. Then I disc...

Lots of variety. Nice! 👊🍺 @ Bravo36 – I don't know if there's a US distributor, but I clicked on the company 'WEBSITE' button. In the upper RH corner, you can select English / USD to order direct. HTH.

Hi, Mario and Everyone Else! First of all, a "BIG THANK YOU!" to Mario! I can DEFINITELY use those "Hands"!!! As far as US hobby outlets go to get ROYAL MODELS products, you might try DRAGON HOBBY on Ebay. Also, I've bought quite a few ROYAL MODELS bits and pieces from other vendors on Ebay- Lots of European and Asian hobby outlets carry the ROYAL line of products... PS- No, I do not work for Ebay, but I DO buy a lot of stuff from various vendors on that shopping site... AMAZON's too expensive...
