Introduction

FC Model Trend is a Spanish company offering a wide range of products in card, decals, resin in a number of scales and even self written books; in addition to these there are some items stocked for resale from other manufacturers. The resin items are the more common master and mould approach, but of late 3D printed items have made an appearance and provided FC Model Trend with some very fine items for retail sale. In this review I am looking at five resin heads that have been released.

Review

The item arrives in a blister pack and consists of five resin heads on a single pour plug. I like the idea of having the heads on a single pour plug as it helps prevent loss. Also inside the blister pack with the model part is a folded sheet of paper providing the details of the product. The result of this packaging process is that it reached me in the UK after leaving Spain.

This offering seems a little odd or unusual to me as it appears the heads are of statues and people from history. I am very sure that Lenin and Stalin are two of the heads here. The other three heads are very familiar to me but I cannot put my finger on the names. I am sure that the remaining three heads go a fair way back in history; two of them from Roman times and another from the Greek civilization.

The detail on the heads must be good if I recognise the detail on the faces and can name two without really trying, but is the aspect of heads from history that confuse me as to who FC Model Trend are trying to reach. The first two heads on the left will have limited appeal except for use on statues in my opinion, and the second one may even be Leonardo’s David. Moving on I do say the detail present is very good and are the equal and better of many I have seen. The one improvement I would request was longer necks on the heads.

Conclusion

This offering from FC Model Trend of five 1/35th scale resin heads is an unusual release in my view. I am all for resin heads as they can prove especially helpful when the need arises or for those who demand especially high quality from their figures; These make me stop and think as they are from individuals from history and a statue in one case. The detail on the faces is of a very high standard as it has to be for me to recognise them if unable to name them. If you have a use for these type of heads then this product should more than meet those needs.

The bald guy with beard and mustache at the far end looks like he might be Socrates.

One is definitely George Washington and the curly haired one looks like a classical Greco-Roman head, probably an emperor.

Ahhh...Caligula, anyone?

Given the slight angle of the head to the neck, I'd say it's Alexander the Great.

The middle one initially reminded me of Eisenhower from the front, but then you notice the goatee and think Trotsky. As to the rest: the first reminds me of John A. Macdonald; and is that the Greek god Apollo in the second from left? They are simply poor choices for the time period in the 20th Century that most of us model. Weird offering.

The detail of these heads got me interested in what Head Sets 1 and 2 contain. Set 1 seems to be based on the Terminator films and Set 2 seems to b a selection of older gentleman, although they may be famous faces that I'm just not recognising at this time in the morning.

I did that as well and I am sure some will love to have these options available, but I would have stuck to faces suitable for the WW2 period even if historic faces are utilised.

Darren - you could have Arnie's dad rummaging through your Normandy Cromwell
