Leichittraktor Tracks for the ICM Kit

When ICM released their Leichittraktor it was received very favourably by modellers myself included, but the tracks were not popular with a good number of those modellers on our site who took the time to post a reply. FC Model Trend came to the rescue of those modellers in the form of a resin track set to remedy that issue for those modellers who want an alternative.

Firstly I have to apologise to FC Model Trend for taking so long to get this done, but it was my intention to show these tracks fitted to the model and I just cannot find the time to get the build done. The tracks as can be seen from the photographs arrive ready to be applied to the model once removed from the pour plug and these arrive in a substantial cardboard box with a flip top lid. Inside of this cardboard box there are some foam peanuts that further protect the tracks that are in a plastic bag.

The pour plug attaches to the tracks on the side and this initially concerned me as regards removal, but my concerns were unfounded as I found removal a breeze. To remove the tracks I simply gently ran a new No 11 scalpel blade around the separation line and with each consecutive pass the tracks came free without the need for further work. The tracks have spring to them that should allow ease of application provided that the idler and drive wheel is not secured at the time of application. I am pleased to see gentle undulations where the top run of the tracks pass over the return rollers.

Looking closely at the tracks and specifically each link I am pleased to see duplication of detail around the whole run with excellent detail throughout. The centre mount that secures the contact service to the track run has been well replicated. The linkage from track to track is also very good on the outer face. The only complaint I can make about these tracks is that beyond the guide horn no other detail is present to indicate individual links; this is not a huge issue with this model and I can only believe that this was done in order to prevent the links breaking during handling and the loss of detail here is not a killer blow.

This track offering from FC Model Trend is a nice product that in my opinion meets the needs and shouts for an alternative to the rubber band tracks included with the model. The detail on the exterior faces is very well done as has the track guides. The only possible complaint being the lack of lines to indicate the individual links on the inner face, but I still believe this was a requirement to prevent breakages. I suppose the only idea I can give you the reader when it comes to how I feel about this product is that I still look forward to using these on my Leichittraktor.

I have been informed that the track pads were attached to a rubber band type deal and so the track detail is in fact correct.
