Introduction

MiniArt is arguably the one stop shop when it comes to injection moulded plastic diorama products, they offer a good number of buildings and an excellent range of diorama elements. Joining that range is a set titled ‘German Road Signs WW2 Eastern Front Set 1’ and that indicates that at least one further set is already planned.

Review

This offering from MiniArt is packed inside one of their commonly seen end opening cartons, I have to say I am not a fan of this approach as the carton is easily crushed causing damage to the contents and the parts cannot be kept in the box while using elements of the contents. Inside of the box is a single plastic bag containing three grey sprues and a printed card.

The contents break down into two identical sprues providing signage in a number of forms such as arrows and square boards. The signage can be broken down into informational signage and locator signage. The information signage is along the lines of live electrics, field hospital and unit X; the locator signage covers areas such as place names and distances to some of those locations. A nice inclusion with this set is posts and poles for mounting signage on, but I feel MiniArt should have included more of these items to increase its appeal. The actual information is provided on thin card and so this is glued directly to the wooden signage rather than providing decals.

With this set MiniArt has included a nice piece in the form of a wooden fence line with gate, a lean too ladder and bench. These items are all great offerings for any modeller who dabbles with the dark arts when it comes to dioramas and of course in the case of the fence could be used for mounting signage and the ladder to indicate a sign being hung.

Conclusion

This offering from MiniArt comes under the have available list for any modeller working on dioramas or vignettes; it offers the ability to easily add those little touches that help tell a story or grab the eye and so guide the viewer over your offering. The selection of signs would appear to me to be a good mix for a good number of purposes. I would have liked to see more posts in the offering as while easily made it is nice to just grab the part you need from a set. All told this is a nice offering that any WW2 modeller covering the Eastern Front should have to hand.
