Introduction

During the Vietnam War, U.S Army and Marines tank and AFV crew wore CVC - Combat Vehicle Crewmen Helmet. It was a lightly padded crash helmet made for wear inside fighting vehicles providing head protection for the bumps and jars. Helmet was composed of laminated plastic-resin coated ballistic nylon and gave almost equivalent protection as the M1 helmet.

BRAVO*6 lately released B6-35315 CVC helmets sculpted by Vladimir Demchemko in 1/35 scale and cast in resin.
Review

  • Helmets come in standard light brown cardboard box.Front part shows a photo of helmets painted in different OD tones and camouflage and backside is labeled with a humorous drawing of John Lennon and Yoko showing photoetched microphone assembly.

  • Kit includes 8 CVC helmets. Sculpting and casting is very good with no mistakes or deformations. No need for a cleanwork as they are removed from sprue.

  • Details on the helmet like side rims, Exterior draw string on the right side which allows the wearer to snug up the earphone cup allowing a better fit, Roanwell Corporation Send and Receive switch box on the left known as SA-1552/G Communication system and Earphones inside helmet are well defined.
  • M-138/G boom microphones are given as photoetched parts. 8 microphones of 2 different types is given.
    Conclusion

Useful kit with 8 CVC Helmets to be used for U.S tankers or AFV crew of Vietnam War. They can be used for figures or displayed on any scenes with U.S vehicles.
