Introduction

Tankograd Publishing has released the third issue of Militär Fahrzeug of 2020. This is a quarterly magazine from Tankograd publishing whose title means Military vehicle in English. This magazine covers a wide spectrum of interests in Military vain covering vehicles from many periods and countries along with a roundup of news, events and museums.

Review

This magazine is printed in a portrait style with a light card cover with a gloss finish and the cover will hold up to reasonable handling. The paper inside is of a good quality as magazines go and also has a semi gloss finish that displays the photographs well. This offering provides 48 such pages and should have something for everyone. The text is only in German which is a shame but not the end of the world. The contents are as listed below.

Bundeswehr units: mountain tank battalion 8
U.S. Army: Bavarian School Bus
Weapon systems of the Bundeswehr: DUKW and LARC - Amphibische Gruppe Bw
German armaments products army: WISENT ARV and AEV
National People's Army: Tatra 141 wheeled tractor
Museums & Events: Of mice and patriots
Imperial Army / Wehrmacht: 37 cm railway howitzer
U.S. Army: Domino-M60A3
NATO military vehicles: Pantserwielvoertuig BOXER
Vehicle technology: JAGUAR rocket tank in Austria
Industry news: New San-EAGLE 6x6 for the Bundeswehr

Being written in German does have some benefit in that it is usually possible to get a good idea of what is written due to a lot of German being similar to English. The pictures speak for themselves regardless of your native tongue and the pictures are very good for the most part except where the time period and limitations in choice have been restrictive. There are two articles that I particularly enjoyed in this issue with one covering rail artillery which due to their large size always seem to be popular subjects with modellers if sometimes out of their pay grade; the other I enjoyed seeing covered the museums and made me realise how I need to get to Kubinka before I die once this virus is under control. Another reason I also like these magazines is that they usually cover in a shorter way the vehicles of the upcoming or published books released each quarter.

Conclusion

These magazines from Tankograd Publishing represent an easy and affordable way to build up a reference library for your modelling. Covering such a wide number of topics means there are usually a few articles to grab your attention. The only negative to these titles is the German only text, but we cannot have everything. Well worth the cost.
