Review:
The
U.S. Military Bulletproof Vest (JS-35002) set is packed in a plastic box. The box features a CAD image art displaying the two slightly different versions of Improved Outer Tactical Vest (IOTV) included in this set.
Opening the box reveals a zip lock bag with 3D printed parts and a small leaflet. The leaflet provides instructions how to remove the pieces from their carrier blocks. Since most modelers are still not used to working with 3D printed parts, these tips will definitely come in handy.
I used Tamiya sharp pointed side cutters for cutting the thinnest carrier supports first and gradually moving to the thicker ones. For those supports that could not be reached with the cutters, I opted for a sharp X-acto blade instead. As all the carrier supports are located on the bottom surface of the parts, the cleanup is very easy. After priming, I was impressed with the quality of the print: there are no printing lines or any kind of imperfections visible with the details very sharp and perfectly delivered in scale.
The set includes two IOTVs in 1/35 scale. The vests are realistically reproduced in its basic setup with no additional collar, deltoid or groin protectors. The IOTV features a grid of PALS webbing on the front, back and sides for the attachment of equipment pouches, which is superbly defined in scale on these pieces. The weight of the vests is nicely portrayed and since the supplied pieces are slightly different, both can be easily used in the same vignette.
Conclusion:
U.S. Military Bulletproof Vest (JS-35002) set from Jason Studio offers two 3D printed tactical vests in 1/35 scale. Perfectly printed with lots of impressively defined details, these pieces deliver superb miniature renditions of the famous IOTV.
Well done, Jason Studio!
