Tankograd Publishing has released the fourth and final issue of Militär Fahrzeug of 2020. This is a quarterly magazine from Tankograd publishing whose title means Military vehicle in English. This magazine covers a wide spectrum of interests in a Military vain covering vehicles from many periods and countries along with a roundup of news, events and museums.
Review
This magazine is printed in a portrait style with a light card cover with a gloss finish and the cover will hold up to reasonable handling. The paper inside is of a good quality as magazines go and also has a semi gloss finish that displays the photographs well. This offering provides 56 such pages and should have something for everyone. The text is only in German which is a shame but not the end of the world. The contents are as listed below.
German armaments projects - Army: Status of LEOPARD 2020
Museum-events-collector scene: Panzerhalle Vienna
US Army: Marne Mauler 66
Weapon systems of the Bundeswehr: VW transporter FISH WIDDER
Empire - World War I: Railway gun in checkerboard tarn
Vehicle - history of the Wehrmacht: Pioneer vehicle Henschel 33 D1
Armored vehicles International: AAV7A1 RAM / RS
Amphibious Rapid Response Force Japan
Maneuvers of the Bundeswehr - Army: Sea loading of M 48 battle tanks
Main battle tank international: NATO main battle tank ALTAY
Museum-events-collector scene: Museum Pinter Müvek - Kecel
Weapon systems of the Bundeswehr: Fuchs KAI is coming!
Being written in German does have some benefit in that it is usually possible to get a good idea of what is written due to a lot of German being similar to English. The pictures speak for themselves regardless of your native tongue and the pictures are very good for the most part except where the time period and limitations in choice have been restrictive. The article that I particularly enjoyed in this issue provides some images of a Stug III Ausf D, I wish there had been far more but for reasons I cannot explain I really like this little tank destroyer. There is a large section in this release looking at the Leopard 2 and with the Leopard always being popular I am sure it will please many of you. Another reason I also like these magazines is that they usually cover in a shorter way the vehicles of the upcoming or published books released each quarter.
Conclusion
These magazines from Tankograd Publishing represent an easy and affordable way to build up a reference library for your modelling. Covering such a wide number of topics means there are usually a few articles to grab your attention. The only negative to these titles is the German only text, but we cannot have everything. Well worth the cost.
