Panzer III/IV Metal Tracks

by: Andrew Ottaway [ OBERST ]

In the pursuit of an accurate model, many modelers take the look of the tracks into account. The level of detail, the sag, etc. are all very important. Kit tracks are often inadequate but luckily the void is filled by aftermarket track companies such as Fruilmodel. These tracks are independent links and can be attached together with either the provided wire or plastic rod, whichever you prefer.

As we can see, the Fruil tracks have a much greater depth of detail. The parts of the track that are supposed to be hollow are while on the kit tracks, they are not. The sag of the authentic vehicle can also be more readily produced with the Fruilmodel tracks as they are much heavier than the kit tracks. The tracks do require some cleanup as a small amount of metal is left on the sides after the casting.

Here is a picture of the normal kit tracks The effect achieved with the Fruil Tracks is magnificent and is worth the price. Fruilmodelmakes tracks to equip most AFV model kits currently on the market.
