Introduction

The Platoon range is a co-operative range of figures between Pegaso Models and the VLS corporation. This figure of a German NCO dressed as he would have been sometime around 1942-43, is the 22nd in the range and is sculpted by Tony Williams.

The figure

The kit consists of a single figure, as said sculpted by Tony Williams. The figure is strolling and appears to be smoking a cigarette, his left arm being raised. He wears the M36 trousers, boots and a tunic I can't actually put a name to? It's possibly meant to be an M40 Tunic, but with the top button left open and no rear pleat. He aslo has both sleeves rolled up to just beneath the elbow. The figure also has a holster on the left of his belt, and wears the M43 Field cap.

The figure is supplied with main torso and legs in one casting, and separate arms and head. There was a spare left arm in mine, but since it was identical to the other I'm sure this was just a packing error. All parts are attached to pouring blocks, which were removed quite easily, and assembly left a tiny, almost invisible seam that is easily hidden with a swipe of sandpaper. The holster was attached to the left side of the figures belt as per the box illustration. There was a tiny amount of flash present which was easily removed . The detail around the shoulder boards and collar is particularly well-executed. The figure has that typically grungy look that I find so realistic. Creased tunic, all bunched up at the back, belt not quite straight etc. The head is nicely cast too, although a little expression wouldn't have gone amiss!

in conclusion

As far as value for money goes, it's not a bad price, and it's well-enough sculpted, so........ recommended!
