Aber - 48010: SOVIET MEDIUM TANK T-34/76 model 1941, Vol.3 - Fenders is a simple upgrade consisting of one sheet of Photo-Etched brass. This is Aber's third (of five) upgrade sets designed specifically for the Tamiya 1/48th scale model.
In detail
The set is simple although a degree of bending will be necessary for the front fenders. This is somewhat facilitated by the careful (and discreet) fold-marks separating the horizontal and vertical areas. It will also be easier to simulate the damage these fenders experienced in the actual vehicle. Many contemporary photos show this are as being very easily damaged, so it will be relatively easy to ad a lot of 'personality' to the vehicle. Apart from the fenders, some replacement details are supplied including some diminutive storage belts and some ice cleats. The latter, in PE are not too convincing, lacking a great deal in depth.
Conclusions
Using this set on its own (or indeed combining it with the other four) should, with a bit of work, turn the donor kit into something very special indeed. It could, certainly in the case of this set, also be equally used with the forthcoming HobbyBoss kit of the same model. A nice, simple addition.
SUMMARY
Two related items for the Tamiya T34/76 are scheduled for review, in the first of these two (brief) reviews, attention turns to an area which should, with minimum effort, transform the donor kit impressively - the fenders.
Our Thanks to Aber! This item was provided by them for the purpose of having it reviewed on this KitMaker Network site. If you would like your kit, book, or product reviewed, please contact us.
