The 12.8cm Sturer Emil was a benchmark kit from Trumpeter last year. It put Trumpeter into the top bracket with Dragon and Tamiya as far as armour modeller's were concerned. Hot on the heels of the Aber Volume 1 PE set, mainly exterior, and Volume 2 PE set which was a fender set, we now have Volume 3 - Ammunition holders & boxes.
the set
This set is fairly large, consisting of two large frets and one smaller. It is a direct replacement for the styrene parts supplied by Trumpeter in the kit. This is a complicated set to assemble, but one that is well worth attempting! Supplied are left and right magazines and boxes. The magazines look extremely complicated and will need some skill to assemble properly, for example, each adjustable ring support for the shells consists of 11 parts, and there are 14 of them to build! They will look extremely impressive when built though.
The boxes are complicated as well, but when built give you the option of having each individual drawer open or closed, and each one has a tiny working latch to secure it. Beautiful!
conclusion
A small, perfectly formed set that will make the fighting compartment of your Sturer Emil look 100% better. Install the Aber volumes 1&2 and the Aber barrel, add some Aber 12.8 ammunition, and you'll have a miniature work of art! Recommended!
SUMMARY
A beautifully complicated set that offers real improvements.
