Alpine Miniatures based in New Jersey, USA, has become known for their range of 1/35th figures sculpted by Taesung Harmms.
the figures
As is usual with Alpine Miniature figures, both of the figures in this set are available for purchase separately, as #35026 and #35027. The figures as posed, do form a vignette however. The set is composed of two figures, both standing, the crewman on the left is leaning slightly to his left as if to hear what the Officer on his right is saying, who himself is leaning slightly to his right indicating something with raised right arm, pointing with two fingers.
Both figures are wearing the black Panzer uniform with double-breasted tunic, the officer with leather gloves, the crewman woolen, and as with all of Alpine Miniature's 1/35th figures, there is a choice of heads included for both figures. Both figures have a pistol holster moulded in position onto their belts, unusually, since these are usually provided as separate mouldings.
The choice of heads for the Officer figure include one wearing a normal peaked soft Officer's cap, and the other wearing an early War Panzer beret or Schutzmutze, whilst the crewman figure offers one head wearing a sidecap or one wearing a Schutzmutze again.
The resin that Alpine Miniatures uses is very user friendly indeed, being easy to work with should you need to remove residue such as the small amount on the soles of the feet of each figure. The heads and the arms for each figure are supplied attached to a pouring block, but again, these are easily removed and unlike some figures I've come across, it's easy to see where to stop removing residue for a good fit!
Whenever I come across Alpines figures I'm always amazed at the sheer quality of the figures, and these two are no different. The proportions and the sculpting are without match. Quite simply, stunning! The poses are animated, the detail is exquisite.
Both figures had a small amount of flash between their legs, but this was easily removed with the tip of a scalpel blade, and the remaining seam blended into the creases of the trousers. Each alternate head for each figure, had the pouring block positioned thoughtfully, so as to facilitate easy removal, and once cleaned up, each head fit effortlessly into place for the posed photographs.
in conclusion
Alpine figures are fast becoming the Ferrari of resin figures to my mind. Although this is one of their earlier sets from last year, they still exhibit all the qualities that has taken Alpine Miniatures to the top of the resin figure tree. Superb and very highly recommended indeed!
My thanks to Alpine Miniatures for the review sample.
