In-Box Review
British Comet Crew

by: Vinnie Branigan [ TEACHER ]

Prompted by the recent release of the Bronco Comet, this set from Warriors, an off-shoot of the VLS Corporation features 3 half figures sculpted by Bill Chilstrom.

the set
As usual for Warriors, the figure set arrives in a blister pack, giving a clear view of the contents, which in this case consist of three half figures, at least that's what the packaging says, although two of them are really three quarter figures.

All the parts inside are in the Warrior cream-coloured resin, which I find a bit hard and brittle compared to other resin figure producers. Two of the figures as mentioned, are really three quarter figures, and both of these arrived with separate arms, all figures have of course, separate heads. First, the heads. Each of these I suppose can be mixed, or attached to each figure. All three have fairly big mould seams running down the back, and all three have flash under their chins, and it's not the thin, filmy type of flash that can be rubbed off either..........it's fairly thick, solidly moulded flash. The expressions are good, with one appearing to be older and sporting what a lot of people think is a typical handlebar moustache. All three are wearing berets, and two of the heads are wearing earphones.

All three of the figures torso's appear to be wearing the tanker suits, with one of the figures wearing a holster belt. All of these are well cast, with good undercuts beneath their collars and no seam evident. The headphone wire is moulded on two of the figures, so you'll have to scrape this off if you'd rather add your own wire, which should be done really, otherwise there's no visible connection between the headphones and the moulded on wire on the torso!

With the four arms supplied, again moulding is fairly good and sharp, although there is some light flash to remove. There are moulded on rectangular tabs on each arm to assist with locating the arms in the correct orientation. All parts have good solid casting blocks attached which will need careful removal.

A really useful set from Warriors, that could be used for any Commonwealth tank towards the end of WWII, and will therefore probably prove very popular. Recommended, but note that the flash on the heads was a little disappointing.

Warrior have produced a useful set of three Commonwealth Tanker figures, that will no doubt find their way onto many an Allied WWII vehicle. Well sculpted, but not so well cast, they will nonetheless prove popular I'm sure
