The vast majority of armour modeller's, will I suspect do the same as me, i.e. use injection moulded figures to put with their vehicles on bases, but will choose to replace their heads, which are the main let down with styrene figures. I have even started to replace the heads on most resin figures I use. The heads supplied rarely compare with the heads in individual replacement sets. Warriors, amongst other produce a wide range of head for modeller's, as indicated by the number on this set..... 67.
the set
As is usual with Warrior replacement head sets, we get six heads in a small clear bag with a cardboard header. The heads are all mounted on pouring blocks that are attached by their necks, and so should prove easy to remove and then clean up the attachment point.
There is a small amount of flash present which shouldn't prove too difficult to remove, and a couple of air bubbles, but these are in areas such as the chin, which again, shouldn't be too difficult to fill with superglue and then sanded smooth.
All the heads are wearing the pith helmet that was worn in the earlier part of the North African campaign before most troops adopted more conventional headgear. In addition all the heads have goggles stretched over their helmets.
Regarding the sculpting, It's fairly clean, although I have seen better, but only one of the heads seems to show any expression, the others being fairly bland, but then again, this could mean that modeller's are able to use them in a wider variety of settings, and therefore I suppose this way they are more likely to appeal to more people
conclusion
Useful set, for those wishing to portray early DAK scenes, as there isn't an over abundance of heads with pith helmets around, and very reasonably priced too. Recommended.
