Firefly 1c Photo-Etch
1/48th Sherman Firefly 1c Photo Etch for Tamiya kit number 32532

Eduard provides four clear pages of colour instructions for the two loaded frets of photo-etch. The set is mainly made up of very small parts for added detail. The exceptions are large parts for the sponson bottoms which Tamiya continues to omit. Another omission from Tamiya are the lack of tow hook mounts and removeable pins, Tamiya does gives you moulded on tow brackets that can now be dressed up with P.E. mounts.

The rear of the hull gets a thorough re-do, with most plastic parts being replaced and/or accentuated. All of the tools get the P.E. treatment, a vast improvement for those of us willing to tackle these refinements. All the hatches get detailed, both inside and out. Periscope guards and light guards are provided. Front fenders are replaced and require the use of a ballpoint pen to accentuate the ribs. An air intake grill is provided for the air inlet cover, nicely detailed which unfortunately will never be seen as the opening of this area on the kit will show nothing but the screw attachment for the lower metal hull to the upper hull. New front brackets are provided to hold the spare tracks.
SUMMARY
Highs: A two fret photo-etch set that finely details the Tamiya Firefly 1c. Nothing overly complicated but the overall small size of the parts should prove a challenge.
Lows:
Verdict: Highly recommended, should spice up your 48th scale Firefly 1c quite nicely.
