Humber Scout Car Mk.1 Stowage (Bronco)

Unlike most Blast stowage sets which are mastered by Frederik Astier of Steelmasters fame, this one has been done by Gilles Peiffer and he has done an excellent job of it. “Custom fit” stowage sets have been gaining popularity in the last few years, with some excellent products coming from Legend Productions and Blast Models. This particular Blast Model package is tailor-made for the Bronco kit of the Humber Scout Car Mk.1

The set
The stowage is made up of five distinct resin castings. One for the rear hull is a large bag (containing a tent perhaps?) with poles on top. A folded up camo net fits the left of the engine deck while a cluster of rolled blankets or tarps occupies the right. A beaten-up and dented stowage box topped by bedrolls is intended for the lower right hull, this is the place where the spare wheel is normally fixed but many Humbers did not carry that spare wheel. Lastly a cluster of small bags is designed for the back of the front left fender.

All five resin parts have a hollow back, this saves resin and helps keep the set at a reasonable cost with rising material prices. As a bonus, it also makes the parts a bit lighter. Of the five parts, three did not need any trimming of excess resin or pour plugs and were ready out of the package. The other two needed a fine strip of resin taken off and this was done with a flat file and a hobby knife, a five minute job really. Otherwise the parts are flawlessly cast in a creamy coloured resin with no bubbles or defects and the detail is extremely fine and should paint up well. As you can see on the photographs, I have temporarily fitted the resin parts to my 90% finished Humber and they have a very natural sit on the plastic.
Highs: Great detail, easy to use, provides instant stowage for the Bronco Humber.
Lows: Use with other kits may require modification.
Verdict: If you have a Bronco Humber, this perfectly designed set will be hard to resist! Highly recommended.
