This is one of many useful civilians in the Mk 35 Editions range. It depicts a man wearing an overcoat and fedora hat holding a small satchel. Although Mk35 make WW2 figures I think this figure would suit any time frame from the 1920s to the present day. Mk 35 are a French company but nothing marks this figure out as belonging to any particular nation.
The Kit
The kit came in a ziplock bag with a photo of the painted assembled figure and a suggested paint scheme referencing Humbrol paints. The figure is very cleanly cast and comes in only two parts, the body and a separate head. The head looks to me to be of a man in his forties and with careful painting could be made to look older. The body is very slight and looks a bit puny around the shoulders. The collar and tie I think should sit higher on the figure’s neck. In his right hand the figure holds a small square leather satchel and his left hand, which is very nicely detailed, holds his coat closed. He has a furtive, defensive air about him and would look good in a checkpoint vignette.
Assembly
Although this is a built review there was almost no building involved. There was no flash on the figure and the only clean up required was to trim the neck to the correct length. I left the resin plug on the feet to hold onto when I eventually paint it. Actually I'm going to use this figure for a conversion project.
N.B. The header photo is the illustration from the MK 35 packet.
Conclusion
For some reason this figure reminds me of Gordon Jackson’s character, Flight Lt. Sandy MacDonald, in “The Great Escape” just before the Gestapo officer tricks him into speaking English while he is escaping.
Some of the proportions around the shoulders and neck might be a bit off but this is still a very useful figure. Recommended.
