Introduction
Gaso-Line is an established French company offering full resin kits, resin conversion sets, figures and accessories in 1/48, an area of growing interest to many and one that not many AM suppliers have paid much attention to yet. These offerings are very welcome by those of us that enjoy building this scale. This particular set is designed to fit the Tamiya 1/48 M8 Greyhound kit # 32551 or M20 Armored Car kit # 32556.
Review
The accessory set contains eight pieces, nicely cast in a light greyish colored resin, which consist of the following:
- Front wheel assembly x2
- Rear wheel assembly x4
- Rolled tarp for front plate
- Miscellaneous stowage for rear deck
The pieces come in a zip-lock bag inside a plastic clamshell box. Since there are no fragile parts, this is not a problem.
Sink-marks and bubbles are non-existent and there is virtually no flash. The mold block/sprues on the wheels are easily removed with clippers, and the mold lines can be easily cleaned up with a sharp knife or small file.
The detail on the two stowage pieces is more than adequate for the scale and subject. The rear deck piece is designed to fit over the air intake cover and the front piece snugs up to the headlights. The detail on the wheels is also very nice. The chains are very well defined and the hub details are better than some larger scale kits I've seen and/or built.
The only thing I would have added is a tarp piece or two to cover the open top of the turret as is included in the M20 set.
Conclusion
All in all, another great set for the 1/48 scale armor builder. Definitely worth getting if you are planning on building either the M8 or M20 in a cold weather setting. The wheels could have been sold alone, adding the two stowage pieces makes a nice bonus.
