Gaso-Line is an established French company offering full resin kits, resin conversion sets, figures and accessories in 1/48, an area of growing interest to many and one that not many AM suppliers have paid much attention to yet. These offerings are very welcome by those of us that enjoy building this scale.
overview
This particular set is designed to fit the Tamiya 1/48 M8 Greyhound kit # 32551 or M20 Armored Car kit # 32556, but could easily be used on many other vehicles or as infantry. The French Marines wore these uniforms in Europe after the Normandy landings. There are 3 US helmets included and the company states they can also be used as US troops, but I think they are better suited to French.
The kit
comes packaged in a small zip-lock bag and contains 10 parts in a light gray resin to build three figures, three US helmets, two berets, and one peaked cap.
There was just a touch of easily removed flash on my sample. The casting blocks are on the small side and also easily removed.
The uniforms are well detailed with pockets, belts and buttons all well defined. Judging by the rolled up sleeves on the talking figure, shirt on the driver and jacket on the other they appear to be in spring or fall.
The poses and facial expressions are also very well done. The first figure seems to be telling a tall tale that the second figure is pondering, but the third guy doesn't appear to believe a word of it.
Conclusion
All in all, this appears to be another winner from Gaso.Line. The detail and expressions makes a lot of 1/35 scale figures pale in comparison.
SUMMARY
Highs: Excellent detail, good poses and facial expressions.Lows: Minor flash.Verdict: A great set, well worth the money.
Is it me or is this a weird set of figures?
The driver, has no legs .. but how does he sit so high .. on top of the steering wheel? Surely this is visible from the open turret on the m20?
The other guy "talking" has the thickest forearm Ive ever seen ...
