Introduction
Following on from my recent look at the Resicast 10cwt (GS) Trailer which was
Reviewed Here on Armorama, is a brief look at kit no 35.2320, 10cwt Trailer Loads. Resicast have, of late, been offering follow up vehicle and stowage sets to go with their conversion and full kits. This I think is an excellent idea and this set follows that pattern.
review
The kit comes packed in the standard and professional sturdy cardboard box supplied with any of the major Resicast items. On the front is a colour picture of some of the un-painted Mortar Boxes stowed in the 10 cwt GS Trailer (trailer sold separately as kit #35.1206), along with the makers name and logo. Inside the box you get 3 different loads, all cast in a light grey resin. The loads were free from air bubbles or any sign of damage.
Load 1, Mortar Boxes:
This load consists of a set of stacked 3 inch mortar boxes. The boxes are stacked 2 high, 3 boxes long and 5 boxes wide, representing 25 boxes in all. You will need a sharp razor saw to remove the plug on the bottom, although it is quite thin on my example so you may choose just to sand it down. Together with the stacked load you get a further six (6) separate 3in. mortar boxes to use as you see fit. The detail on the boxes is excellent.
Load 2, Crates/Wooden Boxes:
The second load represents some general freight, wooden crates and medium size wooden boxes. The bulk load consists of 4 crates and 2 boxes with a further 5 boxes available to add as necessary. All the boxes have good detail and should paint up well.
Load 3, Mixed Items:
Load 3 is a mixed load of Compo boxes, bed rolls and general items. No additional elements were included with this set. Once again the detail is excellent.
Additional Items?
Also in the set were some additional items consisting of some UK Dixie’s, the 14 man container type plus a ladle all of which will be very useful. These are not listed as being with the kit and may as sometimes happens with Resicast be small additional items added by the manufacturer for free or they may be part of the mixed load.
Conclusion
A very useful set to load up your 10cwt (GS) trailer with. From my point of view you an never have enough stores and I can see these loads being of use in the back of small trucks, as stand alone items within dioramas, and even added to pallets and used in boats or even strapped into aircraft!!! Anywhere really, that you want to add some stacked stores. Giving a choice of 3 different types of loading arrangements allows for a lot of personal choice.
The casting is 1st class and the addition of the UK 14 man Dixie’s a very neat touch which provides another useful stowage item for you to be creative with.
Normal precautions apply when working with resin and a sharp razor saw is a must.
