Introduction
Resicast have brought a stowage set to fit the Bronco or Skp Humber Scout cars.
Whichever version of the Humber scout car you build you'll need stowage. Various ammo boxes were often welded on to vehicle fenders, and the rear deck often piled high with whatever the crew thought they needed. This set of stowage is specific to the Humber Scout car and contains stowage for one vehicle.
The Kit
The set includes:
- 4 resin wheels(2 left, 2 right)
- 1 large rear stowage bundle
- 2 damaged ammo boxes for the rear fenders
- Tarpaulin wrapped K Guns
- 1 Clear plastic windscreen
- 1 windscreen wiper ( 1 spare)
- 2 wing nuts ( 2 spare)
- Windscreen wiper 1 Spare
The instructions sheet consists of one A6 sheet with black and white photos showing the stowage in place on the kit and the assembly of the windscreen, plus a key to what each piece is.
All of the parts, apart from the windscreen, are very crisply cast in a greenish colored resin and the detail is excellent. I couldn't find any air bubbles in my set that I can see.
The Large Stowage Bundle:
This is designed to fit in the centre of the rear deck and overhang slightly. It has two ropes tying it down and the detail where the tarpaulin is drawn in and bunched by the ropes is very good. There is a small resin casting plug on one end which needs to be removed.
The Covered K Guns:
This resin piece depicts the twin Vickers K guns in the mounting covered by a canvas tarp. The gun pintle is shown sticking out from the bottom. There are no straps, fastenings or seams on the canvas and the shape is a bit amorphous. I haven't seen any photos of the K guns covered by a tarp so for all I know this depiction is 100% accurate.
There is the stub of the casting plug on one end which needs to be removed.
25 pdr Ammo Boxes:
These are crisply cast and are dented. They come with a resin plug which will need to be removed- I use a razor saw.
The Wheels:
Both the Skp and Bronco kit wheels have their problems, so the inclusion of resin replacements is a good idea. The tread is well defined and the bolt detail is very crisp. There are the remains of the casting sprue on each wheel which will need to be filed flat. This spot will show up on the tread so the wheel should be positioned with this spot touching the ground.
The Windscreen and Fittings:
The windscreen and frame comes as one piece of clear plastic. The wipers and wing nuts are separate resin pieces. You get one spare wiper and two spare wing nuts. This piece will need careful painting.
Conclusion
Though it is a bit minimalist by Resicast standards, this vehicle specific stowage kit will enhance either the Bronco or Skp kit.
