This review is for the new 'Road bridge' that has just been released by Plus Model. It includes 27 ceramic plaster and 36 resin parts. It's important to note that the bridge displayed on the box shot is showing two kits merged together (as they are designed to). The kit includes parts for one span only. The idea obviously being that you can create as long a bridge as you'd like with additional kits to add on to. At a suggested retail price of $43/€31, the cost of making a section longer than two to three spans might be too much for the average modeler, however having the flexibility to add spans is a clever way to market the kit.
On opening the box I noted that several of the plaster parts had been broken during shipment. They were all well wrapped in bubble-wrap, but since the box itself had not been well insulated in another box I think it took too much of a beating to cross the Atlantic. That said hopefully any retailers shipping the kit will take the added precaution to put the box into a well padded shipping box. The broken pieces (shown in photos) are not beyond repair however and might actually create some real-world realism if done up correctly.
My impressions of the bridge components is that they seemed to be very detailed and overall are well designed. The plaster road section for example is made from two main pieces (for a single span) and they merged well, but not perfectly, together (again as shown in photos on right). The resin parts seemed seem very uniform and also detailed. The combination of lower railing pieces in resin and upper railing in plaster seems an interesting choice, hopefully plaster and resin bond well as I will fully admit to never having done that before.
There is a basic instruction sheet provided for this build. It appears to cover the basics. But again no mention as to best methods for bonding resin to plaster. Perhaps some of those reading this review will discuss that in the comments section.
Conclusions
Depending on a modelers skill with diorama construction I would have to rate this new product as one most experienced builders will be happy to incorporate into their next project. With the obvious water effects required and flexibility of how long to make your bridge, damaged or non, etc., this kit will definitely open up a lot of possibilities for modelers. And while a solid resin piece would certainly be much easier to make/place, the weight savings with the approach Plus Model has taken with this kit should not be overlooked either.
SUMMARY
Highs: Clever design and construction system. Excellent details.Lows: May be more work than similar types of kits. Watch for broken bits. Cost may be an issue for longer bridges.Verdict: Overall this is a clever and weight saving method for diorama bridges. I think it will please most serious diorama artists.

I started building models in 1971 when I was 6. My first model was a 1/32 P-40 Warhawk. Revell I believe. From there I moved onto the standard cars, Apollo spacecraft, and other kid orientated kits. I don't know what got me started on Armor. I must have seen a Monogram tank kit one day and said "Mom...
