Plus Model has graced us with a reciprocating water pump from their Easy Line that can be used in many different diorama and vignette ideas. Indeed, during WWII these pumps could be found on almost every farm and in most every village, a ubiquitous feature across most of the European landscape.
Before most of the modern world had running water pumped directly into the house most people got water out of a hand operated reciprocating water pump similar to the one Plus Models has depicted. Now that most of us get our water out of the tap the water pump has fallen out of favor except as an attractive antique center piece for a garden or simply a throwback to a simpler time. Generally made out of cast iron these pumps will work well for years when kept in good repair.
Review
The kit consists of five parts cast in the standard Plus Models light gray resin. The parts are well cast with just a bit of flash to clean-up before you will be pumping 1/35 scale water. You will need to be careful with the handle as it is finely cast and a bit delicate. The main piece of the pump has a plate with the name “Hoch” embossed on it, a manufacturer which I could find no information for. The pump scales out to a robust 6’ 3” in height, which seemed a bit tall based on the pumps I have used, but perhaps older European models were indeed this tall.
Conclusion
With only five pieces this one goes together quickly and easily, hence the obvious inclusion into the Easy Line! I think that this one has lots of uses from the center piece of a vignette or diorama to solving that age old question of what to put into that dead corner of your latest masterpiece. The affordable price as well as the high quality of the casting of this one makes a winner in my opinion.
SUMMARY
Highs: High quality casting, affordable price.Lows: The handle is on the delicate side and easily broken if not careful.Verdict: A nice addition to the growing Easy Line from Plus Model, a real winner!

I have been modeling for about 30 years now. Once upon a time in another century I owned my own hobby shop; way more work than it was worth. I tip my opti-visor to those who make a real living at it. Mainly build armor these days but I keep working at figures, planes and the occasional ship.
