MiniArt especially has joined the ranks of building manufacturers releasing a wide range of suitable buildings and façades for 1/35th dioramas. While the building or façade itself is important, the accessories often mean the difference between the ordinary and the outstanding.
Fortunately for we modelers, Plus Model is working overtime to release a world of small objects and detailing to improve dioramas. Their latest release is a sex of six window boxes with flowers that could be used in a wide variety of settings (and even earlier or later time periods).
what you get
Inside a clear blister pack are six gray resin window boxes with what look like generic flowers.
the review
While the flowers look somewhat generic, they could very well be geraniums. As such, they would be perfect for the window boxes one sees all over Holland. But even in the midst of terrible war, humans look for beauty, and so these would also work on a Norman farmhouse or a Ukrainian village house. The only requirement is warm weather.
The molding is very crisp, and there is a clean scoring above the pour plug making removal from it a snap. Painting should be relatively easy, as the flowers are not so distinctive that you'll need a loop to see their details. Consult your sources to determine colors. The painting guide included indicates red or a brick kiln tile color for the boxes themselves.
conclusion
These simple little additions to any farmhouse or even city dwelling will enhance your diorama immediately. While they say "Holland" especially, these sorts of window boxes can be found in many parts of Europe, and so have a wide usage potential.
SUMMARY
Highs: Excellent detailing, crisp molding, a perfect addition to any European Summer diorama or building façade.Lows: None that I can detect.Verdict: Recommended for any building façade or diorama.
