introduction
Operating under the premise that you can never be too rich or too thin,
AK interactive has released more pigment colors for the modeler, because, hey, can you really ever have too many different pigments to choose from? I didn’t think so either, so AK has graced us with six new colors in their expanding line.
the new pigments
Each of the six is packaged in the standard AK 35 ml. bottle which should provide enough to last through dozens of projects. The new colors are AK-039 Black, AK-040 Light Dust, AK-041 North Africa Dust, AK-042 European Dust, AK-043 Medium Rust, and AK-044 Light Rust. Each of the colors should be useful to modelers in a variety of settings.
I had a chance to work with each of them on my recent Italian Village Diorama and was quite happy with their adherence quality. I used the different dust colors for the brickwork, ground work and paving stones, the rust colors were used on the tile roof sections, and the black was used to provide shadow.
I like the bottle packaging rather than the flip tops that some other pigments are packaged in. I feel like I have a greater level of control in opening the product, admittedly a small detail, but the devil is in the details, or so they say. I particularly liked the black pigment, it is an easy way to enhance shadows and to darken up the end of a gun barrel (even if it is non-historical it still looks cool, you know, smoking gun look and all!) If you pick up some of these I’m sure you will not be disappointed.
