Fingerposts-France II

by: Russ Amott [ RUSSAMOTTO ]

introduction
It's the simple details that are often overlooked, but add significantly to a diorama. One of these items is the humble road sign. Plus Model have released a new resin accessory set of French fingerposts to help rectify this situation.

contents
The set comes in a simple plastic blister pack with cardboard backer. The parts are visible inside. The cardboard backer slides out to access the contents. There are three resin fingerposts. One is rectangular and two are pointed for direction, one facing left and one facing right. There is a small paper sheet with color printing containing two signs for each of the fingerposts.

review
The resin fingerposts are on a simple block that can easily be removed from the bottom, although it also appears the base could be mounted in the ground work of the diorama base to support the fingerpost. They have a lightly textured surface and a prominent rear brace support that matches photos of the actual items. They appear to have been manufactured out of concrete. No instructions or painting guide are included, but assembly is simple and straightforward. Carefully cut out the sign you choose and apply it to the the painted fingerpost, and then weather or detail as you wish. These fingerposts were placed on rural roads and city street corners, so they can be used almost anywhere.

conclusion
This is a nice, easy to use kit that should prove helpful to any dioramist.

I got back into the hobby a few years back, and wanted to find ways to improve, which is how I found this site. Since joining Armorama I have improved tremendously by learning from others here, and have actually finished a couple of kits. I model to relax and have fun, but always look to improve. ...

Thanks, Tom. I did an image search on Google for each town name to see what the areas looked like, and there was a good photo of each actual fingerpost in the image galleries. They all looked to be quite clean and in good shape.
