Archer Dry Transfers should be well know by most modellers for their excellent range of 1/35 decals. AFT is a sub division of Archer Fine Transfers and offers a range of the more difficult type decals to place in standard water-scale format.

Whilst Archer Dry Transfers offer both Dry and Wet options it is not always easy to transfer some of the smaller decals to wet medium paper and hence AFT came into being.

The Set

This set offers transfers for British Compo Boxes, Biscuit Tins and Allied markings for 105mm Ammo Box stencils.

Included are:

12 - compo box markings
20 - biscuit tin markings (2 styles)
10 - 105mm high explosive ammo box marking
10 - 105mm Smoke round markings

These decals are suitable for the Resicast 25.266, 35,288,35.292, 35.293, 35.296, 35.2294 and 35.2295 kits. They should also be suitable for any other set in this 1/35 scale equipment range.

The transfers come packed in a sealed plastic bag, containing 1 set as detailed above. To accompany the decals a small 4 page guide is enclosed showing stencil positions on the 105mm ammo boxes, Compo Ration Pack Boxes and Biscuit Tins. Application instructions are contained on the rear sheet.

This set should make the positioning and marking of the items much easier and more controlled. They offer that additional detail many modellers are looking for and will enhance any build of these items you do.

I had previously tried the dry transfer set for the compo boxes and biscuit tins without much success and when I enquired with Archers about these being available in wet transfer they kindly sent a replacement set, so my thanks to Woody and Jen there, excellent customer service indeed.

The addition of the AFT wet decals, many of which have previously been reviewed by Bill Cross should be very welcome.
Highs: Great detail - should be very user friendly.
Lows: None I can think of.
Verdict: Highly recommended.

About Alan McNeilly (AlanL)

Greying slightly, but young at heart. I've been teaching adults off and on for most of my life. Left the services in 85 and first started modelling in about 87 for a few years. Then I had a long spell when I didn't build anything (too busy) and really just got started again during the summer of ...

Fine review, Al, and thanks for the shout-out. I just got a set of these, and was going to see if you wanted to review them. Any suggestions on where to come up with the boxes to put these on? Other than scratching them, that is, LOL!

Hi Bill, Resicast, Compo Boxes and Biscuit Tins. Pat McGrath review then some time ago. Don't know of anyone else doing a set, I think a few biscuit tins got issued by one of the manufacturers as part of kit stowage but can't remember who. Same detail with the 105mm ammo, I believe it's still available, not sure about the bulk load though, check the Resicast site. Cheers Al
