Introduction

SB Models have within their SB Scotia range some handy diorama accessories. This is a look at one such product: Sandbag Sections No 2.

The Set

The set comes packed in a zip plastic bag with the product details and number on a small paper tab. Both pieces are cast in a light grey resin. The set consists of 2 sandbag sections, one set at right angles and the other a small straight section.

The large section measures 50 mm x 30mm (approx) and consists of a 5 high stack of sandbags and a wooden box, plus a rubble filled oil barrel. Detail on both sides of the stack looks good and the bags are somewhat random and natural looking. The second section measures 43mm x 14mm (approx) and consists of a small increasing stack of bags (4 high) and a largish wooden box. Again the detail is very nicely done.

Each stack is set on a small base which you could trim, sink into your setting, or leave as is.

Conclusion

A very handy little stack of sandbags and boxes which should be useful to both diorama and vignette builders alike. The bags are stacked in a realistic manner and the addition of the wooden boxes in the base gives a nice variation.

You could make your own set if you have the time and patience but alternatively for those who don’t have the time this set offers a quick and easy solution for a small corner section.

Greying slightly, but young at heart. I've been teaching adults off and on for most of my life. Left the services in 85 and first started modelling in about 87 for a few years. Then I had a long spell when I didn't build anything (too busy) and really just got started again during the summer of ...
