J's Work is a Chinese manufacturer of useful diorama accessories. They recently added to their lineup with a series of German supply boxes. This review looks at set #4.
the boxes
German Supply Boxes #4 is presented on a single sheet of heavy paper stock with the reverse side in plain brown cardboard color and the front or outer box surface in one of three pinkish tints, with three boxes in each tint for a total of 9 boxes. Two of the boxes appear to have the same marking, a red circle in a white rectangle on both ends, and a German official military stamp on one of the box top flaps, and the other type having only a white rectangle on both ends. The sheet comes in a clear plastic sleeve.
The boxes are laser cut with fold lines marked on the inner side. The paper states there is no need for tools for assembly, but I still used a razor knife to cut the two small sliver tabs that hold the boxes to the main sheet. Once removed, it is a simple matter to fold each box along the indicated lines, press the tabs together and glue them shut to have an assembled box. The paper is sturdy enough to allow a light clamp to hold the box until the glue sets. I used white school glue for the assembly, but I have also used CA glue in the past with no trouble. If it holds paper it will work.
Once the glue is set, it is done. It took just under 20 minutes to assemble all 9 boxes. The finished box appears to be about 13" wide, 15" long and 10" high, or roughly two large model boxes stacked on each other. There is no indication as to what the boxes carried, and I have had no luck searching the web for further enlightenment. I would assume such a box would carry food items, or perhaps lightweight dry goods.
conclusion
They can be placed on a model anywhere that stowage would appear, or be used to fill up the back of one of the many German trucks that has recently appeared in styrene. This is a simple, useful accessory.
My sample was provided to Armorama by J's Work. It is available from Lucky Model for $2.99 US, with free shipping.

I got back into the hobby a few years back, and wanted to find ways to improve, which is how I found this site. Since joining Armorama I have improved tremendously by learning from others here, and have actually finished a couple of kits. I model to relax and have fun, but always look to improve. ...
