When I first opened the bottle of this stuff I initially thought it was nothing more than isopropyl alcohol as that is what it smells like. I checked it against some that I had here and it behaved differently so I’m taking a swag that it isn’t that. Maybe denatured…not important at this point. What is important is how this stuff performed. The labeling on the bottles states: “Universal Cleaner for brushes, tools and airbrushes. This product is effective with different brand acrylic paints like Lifecolor, Vallejo, AK Interactive, Andrea and other water soluble colors…” Well, I broke out a few of the acrylic paints I routinely use and put this stuff through its paces. My color pallet included paints from Mister Kit (WWI colors) Tamiya, Vallejo and Pollyscale.

First up in the queue was the Mister Kit color. A thoroughly loaded brush was allowed to set for a few seconds then cleaned off in the AK Cleaner. All the paint on the brush as well as some traces of a red color that I had used previously came off with no troubles. So far so good. Next up was Vallejo. Same procedure, same results…including the previously mentioned red. I was beginning to like what I was seeing. Tamiya’s black followed this and last but not least came the Pollyscale. Here is where things changed up a bit. The Tamiya color came off the brush without a hitch. The Pollyscale didn’t seem to like the cleaner as it had a reaction with it of sorts; something akin to adding a drop of oil into water. It beaded up and began to swirl all on its own as though mystical forces were pulling it this way and that. I kept working the brush around and the remaining paint did come off, just not as easily as the others I had tried.

So, while my results were pretty positive, your mileage may vary depending on your acrylic paint choices. As always test things out before jumping in with both feet. I was happy with the way the product performed and would recommend it to others. Thanks to AK Interactive USA for the review sample.
