You can always count on Plus Model to come up with something new every month. July is no exception, and they have, among other releases, come up with a really cool little laser cut set that builds up into a picnic table and a set of benches.
what you get
Plus Model packages the whole thing in their standard carded package. The set comes on one sheet of laser cut wood, and a set of instructions ins printed on the back of the inner card, but I doubt anyone will need to consult them more than once or twice, it is a pretty intuitive build.
the review
I'm not sure what kind of wood is used - seemed a bit too thick to be balsa. Perhaps bass wood? It will make one very nice table and two benches. Two or three light passes with a hobby knife blade, and the pieces popped right out. I gave them a quick pass with an emery board to get rid of the fuzz, added a dab of white glue and set them aside to dry.
After everything had dried, I couldn't resist adding a bit of weathering. I used Mig and AK Interactive washes to add some life; I may have gone a bit overboard, but it was too much fun to stop.
conclusion
I would recommend this set strongly if you are building, or thinking of building, any kind of diorama or vignette that includes a small table. The possibilities for this set are truly limitless. This is the first laser cut material I have ever worked with and I can tell you I am hooked. This was really just too easy.
SUMMARY
Highs: Easy construction with a bit of care. Looks great when finished, takes weathering effects very well.Lows: None really. Some may find the price a bit high for something they can cut out of plastic sheet or wood themselves, but this takes the hassle out of that task.Verdict: Highly recommended. Looks much better than a plastic table trying to look like wood.

I have been modeling for about 30 years now. Once upon a time in another century I owned my own hobby shop; way more work than it was worth. I tip my opti-visor to those who make a real living at it. Mainly build armor these days but I keep working at figures, planes and the occasional ship.
