Baggage carts w/ baggage

Introduction

Another juicy goody from Plus Model out of the Czech Republic. This time around it is the somewhat commonly seen baggage cart of the type to be found hanging around a railroad depot.

Don't be fooled by the name on the box, "Railway cart on baggages", this is not what we would normally think of as a railway cart, what it is instead is the cart that would be used to haul around your luggage before loading or after unloading.

the kit

The kit comes packed in two plastic bags, inside a snug bubble wrap protector sleeve. The box says that the kit contains 19 resin parts but I'm not sure how they came up with that number, a quick count tells me that the box actually contains 27 parts, all cast in the same medium dark gray resin that Plus Model has used for quite awhile now. As is to be expected with their resin castings you can search high and low and never find an air bubble or pin hole that needs filling. This little gem is no exception, everything is molded to the highest standards. Perhaps best of all is that the box actually contains two of the carts.

The 27 parts are divided into two bags, one contains all the parts for two of the baggage carts while the other holds a full load of baggage. The carts are made up of eight pieces each and look to be quite simple to construct. The wood grain of the carts bed is quite well done, subtle and very convincing.

The second bag holds 11 pieces of luggage for the carts. The luggage is a mixture of suitcases, crates, and chests. The highlight seems to be the large wicker chest which is very well molded with some nice details; handles, latches, hinges, and metal reinforcing corners.

Conclusion

Another neat little extra for the diorama builder that should be well received. You end up with enough baggage to fill the two carts without too much fuss. Easy to construct and very well molded with no obvious flaws make this an easy one to recommend.
SUMMARY
Highs: High quality of molding evident throughout the kit. Enough parts to kit out two full carts.
Lows: Would have been a nice touch to include decals of some of the travel stickers often seen on trunks of the era.
Verdict: Highly recommended. Another great little kit that could have lots of uses.

About Rick Cooper (clovis899)
FROM: CALIFORNIA, UNITED STATES

I have been modeling for about 30 years now. Once upon a time in another century I owned my own hobby shop; way more work than it was worth. I tip my opti-visor to those who make a real living at it. Mainly build armor these days but I keep working at figures, planes and the occasional ship.
