Plus Model has released another sweet little resin extra for the diorama modelers to enjoy. This time around it is a set (suite?) of office furniture of the type that you would see in a office or study in the 1940’s.
the office
The kit is packed securely in a small box, the contents, 50 resin pieces and one length of wire plus instructions, are bagged and wrapped tightly inside a bubble-wrap sleeve so little chance of any breakage. Inside the bag you get the typical Plus Model dark grey resin that has been molded with no bubbles or pin holes anywhere. Most all of the pieces do have a bit of flash as well as the casting blocks but nothing that isn’t easily dealt with.
You get a nice desk that is built up with 9 pieces. What is really cool is the drawer that actually slides open just waiting for a pile of office supplies! I had to see how well the drawer fit; it took me about five minutes to remove the casting blocks, clean up, and construct the entire desk and I can tell you it fits like a glove, a cabinet maker would be proud! To help set the time period you also get a 40’s style telephone, complete with cradle, handset, and a length of copper wire to create the curly handset phone cord. Along with the phone you receive a nice green shade desk lamp, complete with bulb on the inside of the shade.
A tall cabinet, the type that looks a bit like a mail sorting station is also included. The bulk of the parts count come from this piece as each of the shelf parts are individually molded. It looks like it would go together pretty easily. To finish off you get a chair, I'm not really a chair expert but it looks like an occasional chair or maybe a dining chair for the head of the table more than it looks like an office chair.
Conclusion
A nice little kit, reminiscent of the old Verlinden office furniture kit, but this one has been molded with state of the art quality. Any of these pieces could easily find their way into any number of dioramas or vignettes that need just that little extra touch. If you have ever assembled a piece of Ikea furniture this one shouldn’t be any problem at all!
SUMMARY
Highs: Easy construction, very cleanly molded with no bubbles or pin holes that would need filling. Lows: Chair doesn't look much like an office chair. Lots of little shelf pieces to add which may feel a bit tedious but other than those minor nitpicks no real drawbacks. The average modeler shouldn't encounter any real problems or difficulties.Verdict: Recommended. Would look good in an office, a parlor, or in a pile of rubble out on the streets of a diorama.

The „modern" office chairs are quite new. I used that type of equipment in the 1980's in a Bundeswehr post office. The telefon was slightly smaller but the "grey mice" was the standard german phone till the 1990's Also useable as a mace or garrot

I could have added an extra paragraph to the review with a lost of 'other' non=standard uses. This is why you got to love Armorama!
