I sometimes wonder if Libor Zachoval is really more than one guy.
His first passion was LZ Models, and now he's bringing out styrene kits. But LZ was primarily about railroading in 1/35th scale, and it has released both stand-alone resin rolling stock and some nifty upgrades for Trumpeter's locomotives.
Now it has released three figures meant to populate those locos, including this civilian worker.
kit contents
Inside a Ziploc baggie are:
9 cream-colored resin parts
1 sheet of photo etch
a length of wire
the review
The great thing about most LZ Models kits is that everything you need except glue and paint is included. No need to scratchbuild a thing, and this kit is no different. You get a generic railroad worker, tools and a photo etch bucket.
Included are a watering can, a shovel and a sledge hammer, so your worker isn't going to be just standing around looking for work.
There is even a second set of arms for a different pose.
The scale of the figure is smaller, closer to those of Tasca than, say, DML. But the detailing is excellent. As you can see from the photos, the resin is a bit "hairy," but nothing that won't clean up quickly.
The bucket is a bit of a challenge, and is not for the beginner (few LZ kits are!).
conclusion
This is another coup for LZ Models, who have worked hard to make the Trumpeter locomotives more accurate. This figure, however, will work in almost any railroad setting, and could easily make the transition to a factory or street scene.
Thanks to LZ Models for the review sample. Be sure to mention you saw it reviewed here on Armorama when ordering.
