Another of the new figures released in March this year was that of a Canadian Dispatch Rider, kit number is 35.5654. The figure was inspired by some art work done by Ron Volstad, who depicted his father in law who served with the Royal Canadian Dragoons. The uniform was illustrated in Osprey's Men At Arms Title 359 Canadian Forces in WW2.

The figure
The figure, a standing figure, comes in 4 simple parts, the head, separate arms, and the body as a whole. The figure is dressed in a Pulp style British made crash helmet, which was issued to the Canadian Army, the helmet has a pair of standard issue goggles around the bottom portion of the helmet. Upper clothing consists of the collar of a standard battle dress and a neat leather Motorcyclists jacket , standard Motorcyclist boots, and riding style trousers. The jacket is knee length and sports a wide collar and 6 buttons down the front, and has left and right hand pockets although the right one is hidden under the 37 patter pistol holster. Around the waist is a 37 pattern belt, which holds a pistol holster on the right hand side and an ammo pouch on the left hand side. The belt has nice brasses and rear buckles as does the pistol holster and pouch. The butt of a revolver is just visible in the holster. The boots and trousers are very nicely done, particularly the detail on the boots. White socks are turned over the top of the boots to complete the dress.
The face of the figure is well done and should paint up well. The separate arms are a good fit and in the left hand the figure holds a pair of motorcycle gloves. The figure measures approximately 44 mm from heel to shoulder and has good body proportions.
Conclusion
Overall a very good figure that world work good as a stand alone figure in a vignette or as part of a diorama. I like the style of jacket, which was referenced in Osprey's Men at Arms mentioned above. The detail as always is first class.
This figure offers another option for the model builder and adds to the ever expanding range of British and Commonwealth figures available from Resicast.
