Private Sorrow
Private Sorrow

by: Alan McNeilly [ ALANL ]

Last month saw the release of several new figures in the Resicast range of British and Commonwealth Troops. This figure; ‘Private Sorrow’ depicts a standing British/Commonwealth soldier looking a bit glum

The figure was mastered by Gerard Detroeye and painted by C Nachtergael.

The figure

The figure comes packed in the standard Resicast format of double ziplock plastic bags with a paper colour insert depicting the completed and painted figure, and manufacturers and product details.

The figure is cast in a light grey resin and consists of 2 simple parts. The body is cast as a whole, with separate head. The figure, a standing figure, is dressed in battle Dress Serge 39/49. The blouse has the pleated pockets and is open down the front revealing a standard ORs shirt. The blouse is very nicely done as are the BD trousers, anklets and ammo boots.

The figure is posed with the right foot forward, left hand in the trouser pocket and the right arm loose against the right side. The figure measures approximately 43mm form heel to shoulder. The stance is a natural looking one.

The head which is the only separate item wears a MK II steel helmet and depicts the face of someone who looks a bit ‘browned off’ with life hence the title Private Sorrow. Detail is excellent and the whole figure required little clean up before you get to the fun part.

This is another very good type figure and could be used in any capacity whether Infantry, Artillery or RSC type personnel. The clothing again would suit a number of theatres of operation from North Africa through to North West Europe or the Home Front. What depicts the setting would be the colour of the helmet and a switch of head would make this figure widely useable.

Detail on the figure looks excellent and this one should be of interest to both figure painters and diorama builders alike.

Another useful addition to the Resicast range, who should find many a good home.
Highs: Very useable with a nice relaxed/untidy look about him.
Lows: None I can think of
Verdict: Highly Recommended

About Alan McNeilly (AlanL)

Greying slightly, but young at heart. I've been teaching adults off and on for most of my life. Left the services in 85 and first started modelling in about 87 for a few years. Then I had a long spell when I didn't build anything (too busy) and really just got started again during the summer of ...
