German Soldier with a Mouth Organ of WWII
Item: ARM35105
Parts: 6
Armor35 continues to expand their 1/35 catalog with this relaxed
Landser with a harmonica.
the figure
Armor35 packs the model in a small zip-lock baggie and held in a nicely decorated small top-opening box.
Inside are six gray-green resin parts held on three pour-sprues:
1. Head with Stahlhelme helmet
2. Two separate arms with hands
3. Body sans the above
4. Mauser K98k rifle
5. M31 Feldflasche Canteen
I haven't found any casting flaws. The figure is sculpted by renowned artist Sergey Traviansky. The body appears naturally proportioned in a relaxed standing pose, sharply detailed with deep folds on the
Feldbluse (Field Tunic) Model 1936 uniform and Y-strap equipment harness, 'bread bag,' and Kar98 ammo pouches.
Feldbluse detail includes
Litzen on the collar and the shoulder straps have
waffenfarbe piping. The
Wehrmachtsadler eagle pokes out from under the right equipment strap. Plenty of buttons and some fine seams. Although it looks minor, there does appear to be a blemish near the elbow on the inside of the right sleeve.
The
Stoppelhopser ("Stubble hopper", like "Dogface" for American and "Tommy" for British soldiers) has a sharply sculpted face that looks a bit tormented as he lip blocks the harmonica. Fingers and hands look exceptional, too.
Detail and pouring of the K98 and canteen are equally impressive.
It seems that the rifle and helmet have too many pour stems on them that could complicate removal from the sprues. Careful!
assembly and painting instructions
None. Assembly should be easy while you must seek references for painting.
Coda
I think this is a very interesting figure. The mouth organ pose really sets it apart from other 'at ease' subjects. It should add a great deal of unique personality to your diorama or figure collection. Sculpting is top-notch. Detail is amazing.
I look forward to painting this fine figure and hope to share it with you soon! Recommended!
