For those looking to give their Sd.Kfz 234 series model a different look Tiger Model Designs has produced a nice set of "F" pattern tires with the late five hole rim pattern.The Kit
The set includes 9 tires, 8 mounted rims, 1 spare rim, and 8 wheel hubs without tires, in a light grey resin. The tires are cleanly cast with no apparent air bubbles or warpage. The tread pattern is very well done, with the actual tread being fairly deep. There is however a fair amount of flash on each tire. The hubs and brake drums are also cleanly cast, with very good bolt detail. but once again there is a fair amount of clean up on the hubs.

Clean up: As stated above there is a fair amount of flash on the tires and hubs and a small casting block on the tires. However this is very easily cleaned off with a sharp x-acto blade and some fine sandpaper. The hubs will need the flash cleaned out of the holes, but it was easily done with the above mentioned tools. My sample did have a few small drops of resin on a few pieces, but nothing major. The brake drum required no clean up at all.

Assembly: Once cleaned up the hub and brake assembly slid into the tire with minimal pressure and there was a nice tight fit with no apparent gaps. The tire sat squarely on my work bench indicating a nice round casting. While I did not have the Italeri 234 handy it appears that the plastic kit part simply slides into the back of the tire and should sit flush with the back of the brake drum.

Conclusion

This is a nicely done set of tires that will add a unique look to your 234. While clean up was a bit tedious, once done you are left with a very well done casting. Some people might find the price a bit much for a set of tires.
