Value Gear has become known in a short time for serving up exactly what their name offers-value priced stowage items for scale plastic modelers. This new set offers a variety of tents and tarps in different sizes.
THE SET
Set 11, tents and tarps offers 12 resin pieces, all unique. Packaged in a simple plastic zip close pouch, there are two tents with poles, three pieces representing multiple tarps joined together, and 7 single tarps of varying sizes. Some are tied with belts or straps and some with rope.
The pieces are very well molded with a nice, weighted look to the fabric, although there are a few bubbles present in the molding, one in my sample being on the end of a set of tent poles. Each piece will require some minimal cleanup along the back edges from the pour plug.
I painted the tarps in a variety of colors primarily based on the WWII kits I have, although they look generic enough to suit any time period and even non military uses.
CONCLUSION
The set is vary basic and easy to use. Just decide how you want the pieces painted and you are pretty much set. They aren't flexible, so they will need a flat surface to rest on unless the modeler wants to do some carving on the back face to fit the chosen mounting surface. Aside from that, the set is very useful and at $11.50 US, fairly inexpensive. There are those who like to mold their own tarps, but for those who don’t, these should fill in nicely. My thanks to Value Gear and Armorama for this sample.
SUMMARY
Highs: Basic, well molded set of different sized tarps for a number of modeling applications.Lows: Some minor bubbles present on the molded surface. Flat molding may restrict their placement. Verdict: Another very useful set from Value Gear that should prove handy for stowage and diorama needs.

I got back into the hobby a few years back, and wanted to find ways to improve, which is how I found this site. Since joining Armorama I have improved tremendously by learning from others here, and have actually finished a couple of kits. I model to relax and have fun, but always look to improve. ...
Thanks for getting this up, Darren.
Value Gear states on their website that the Sherman stowage sets can be soaked in hot water and then shaped to conform with curved surfaces. It wasn't said with this set but I imagine it would still work. I will give it a try and see how it goes.
I just completed an order for two sets of their tarps. Paid through Pay Pal and almost immediately received a note from Steve, the owner, regarding his product line. He placed the items in the mail within hours of my order, the shipping price was extremely reasonable and I am anxious awaiting the items.
More to follow, but so far I am impressed

Resins are almost all (some resins are harder than others) bendable to a certain point after soaking in boiling water. Mine as well as other resin bit makers. It is one of those secrets I learned a few years ago. I started telling my friends and they looked at me like "of course it does you idiot". It was the greatest trick I ever learned. So practice with some extra bits before you use you newest or best bits. Really helps to fit a fender or odd spot on any vehicle.
DJ you caught me at the perfect time today. Usually everything ships the next day. But it's true I don't mess around getting orders out.
