Battlefield situational awareness is a primary factor for any military command level element. Understanding orders and interpreting information in a dynamic environment is essential as any other factor such as movement or sending rounds down range. Ambient acoustics and clear and reliable communication is therefore very important and thus enters the Peltor COMTAC series Tactical Headset – talk-thru headset designed for use with the PASGT and ACH helmets. To ease 2 way radio comms, the headset comes with the PTT (push-to-talk) adapters.
Peltor Radio intercom PTT (Push-to-Talk) adaptor cable is the link between the communications headset and the radio. PTT allows for monitoring 2 channels and voice transmission on 1 channel. The incoming audio is split into dual downlead cables and the radio transmissions are heard independently in each headset ear cup. Unit can be palm-activated or used with ring finger PTT accessory (TK55) by selection option. Adapter is designed to fit the size and shape of both right and left hands. The adapter shell has no protruding parts and has a flexible, durable reinforcement for the cord, where it connects to the radio or inter-communications system.
Review
This is a review of Live Resin’s latest offering in 1/35 scale: Peltor Radio FL5040-02 Push to Talk (PTT) for Military Comtac head set [LRE-35125].
Live Resin products come in a standard zip-lock plastic bag clamped in a cardboard 3D box-art. The front image is showing the parts layout, while the back image illustrates the optional resin accessories released for this weapon system.
The set includes 7 PTT adapters. The molding block is numbered 35125A. Like always, the casting is as superb. There are no imperfections, bubbles, no flash or any other types of defects in this sample. The molding stubs are something else this time; they are extremely thin and I can’t keep from wondering how does LR’s casting production work? You will not have to worry about removing the parts from the plugs, or sanding anything off.
The adapters are extremely tiny and feature button details, PTT protective shroud that protects the PTT button from unwanted activation and cable connectors on both sides. Everything is very sharp and looks really the part. The only thing that’s missing is the Peltor writing – but in this scale it’s asking for almost impossible.
Conclusion
This is a very smart detail for your figures. Combine it with LR’s earlier releases i.e. the MBITR radio set, ComTac headsets, or antenna set for your perfect Commo-Guy setup. It’s an effective way to break up the color pattern of the camouflage or body armor and will look realistic once you wire everything together. Technically and detail wise, this little set is a gem. You may be set off a bit by the price for how small package you get, but remember the modular rule of LR releases. Any way you look at this, you get 7 pieces to detail and hook up your entire squad and I feel this comes in a very-recommended category of accessories.
