introduction
Tactical gloves have many protective functions for the hand, be it impact, fire/flash protection, warmth, etc., while still providing dexterity and ease of movement for the shooter.
The performance of the SI assault glove caught the eye of the U.S. military, which had Oakley upgrade the original invention by adding a full-grain leather palm with micro venting. The all-weather design combines optimal shielding with the comfort of breathable mesh and the airflow of rubber exhaust ports. Airprene on the joints improves breathability and flexibility while four-way stretch panels ensure a precise fit. The mid-height cuff won’t restrict movement, and it utilizes Airprene to help eliminate sweat buildup. Shielded with carbon fiber knuckle plating, this aggressive design is durable enough for the military or the mountain.
Features:
• Durability and comfort of Pittards full-grain leather palm with micro venting
• Fit and flexibility of four-way stretch material and Airprene joint panels
• Nonrestrictive Airprene mid-height cuff with secure Velcro closure
• Flexible articulated construction
• Comfortable breathability of mesh zones and rubber exhaust ports
• Secure grip of Unobtainium on fingers
The gloves are available in 5 color patterns: Black, Coyote Brown, Tan and Foliage Green.
The review
This is a review of Live Resin’s latest offering in 1/35 scale: Oakley Factory Pilot SI Assault Gloves [LRE-35122].
Live Resin products come in a standard zip-lock plastic bag clamped in a cardboard 3D box-art. The front image is showing the parts layout, while the back image illustrates in this case features the same image with the annotation that this set is compatible with any/all 1/35 scale figures from any manufacturer.
The set includes a single molding block numbered RE35122A with 4 hands on each separate block. Each features two left and two right hands. They are sculpted differently – one left hand with completely extended fingers, the other left folded into a fist. The right hand offers a pointing index finger (proper trigger discipline) as well as folded fingers option. The same goes for the other block.
The casting is as what’s accustom to Live Resin: there are no imperfections, bubbles or any other types of defects in this sample. The molding stubs are thin and you will not have to worry about removing the parts from the plugs, or sanding anything off. Just a quick snip with your blade or sprue cutters and you’re good to go. Some clean-up will be necessary since the main casting plug goes directly into the glove.
The gloves are beautifully molded with the appropriate “O” logo on the glove cuff, the carbon fiber knuckle protector insert, the finger vents and other molding. It’s really amazing how much detail is packed into such a small piece of resin. With every area clearly depicted, once painted the gloves will look stunning and prove to be a focal point of any figure.
Conclusion
This set is a great universal piece of the puzzle. It shows how much detail can go into a small piece such as a glove. The molding is superb, just like we are all now accustomed from Live Resin and this time I have no nitpicks. The set offers a nice combination possibilities for a few figures and will be handy (pun intended). Hopefully we will see more of these accessories in the Live Resin line-up.
